Anyone done the Japanese hair straightening?

I am seriously considering shelling out the $400 to do this...the top 1/4 of my head is stick straight and the rest is super curly and I can't take it anymore!!!

Does it do some serious damage to your hair?? Did it work like they said it would??

I met a hairstylist who got it done and she loves it. She has really curly hair and it looks stick straight. Only thing she suggests is that you don't have any highlights or rescent color on your hair before you do it cause that may damage your hair. Usually, if you go to the salon they'll look at your hair to make sure it's ok to do this proccess.

dont take the risk if u want to keep all yur hair, they could be wrong sometimes, find another hair place, good luck!

It works just fine. My girlfriend straightened out her curly hair, and you'd never be able to tell that she has naturally curly hair!

I am vietnamese girl, and I have my hair straightened for $20. US. I have to go back to the hair salon one a week for shampoo with the good conditioner to give vitamins to keep my hair smooth and straight, and it costs about $3.US , and it works good. This last for about at least 5 months, and I am very happy with it.

Japanese hair straightening isn't the way to go. It does make it straight, but every time someone I know has done it, it's made their hair look really unhealthy. And when my best friend did it, her hair cells all died and she had to get most of her hair cut off. And she had really healthy hair too! So I think you should try something else. What lonelytraveler suggested sounds healthy.
