Chemically straightening my hair?

I really want to get my thick, wavy, staticky hair chemically straightened, but the more I read about it, the worse it sounds. I was told by some people that it only lasts about six months, but I've been reading that it is un-doable until your hair grows out from the roots. I also read that it can (only rarely) cause your hair falling out, burns on your scalp, dry brittle hair, and a few other things. Does anyone have any personal experience on this? How was it for you? Thanks!

I had it done a few weeks ago. I have the same hair as you (well I did!!) %26amp; it has helped soooo much! It is not completely straight but it makes it so much easier to straighten %26amp; I can now go out with wet hair %26amp; know it wont frizz.

I went to my local hairdressers %26amp; they charged 鎷?20.

It stays intill it grows out so yes, it is un-doable but you wont know how it is untill you try!

It is amazing %26amp; I would definitely reccomend it!

Good Luck!

I would never advise anyone to put any kind of chemical in their hair. You hair is very sensitive and can damage very easily. My wife uses a professional grade flat iron along with protective/shining sprays to get her hair straight. It works great. If your hair is very coarse and thick, you may consider using a flat iron made for "black" hair. That's what my wife has to use and she is not African-American. I would try the flat iron before ruining your hair with harsh chemicals. Best wishes!

I straighten my girlfriend's hair about every 4-6 months........She has really thick, slightly wavy, frizzy hair! The straightener works great on her hair..... After a couple months, her curl and frizziness start coming back........of course more at the root of the hair, but it has never did any damage that we have noticed to her hair. Maybe you should talk to your hair dresser about having it done........everyone's hair reacts differently...

Girl all you need to do is talk to some black girls who get perms every 2 to 3 months. You're acting like no one has ever entered the world of "chemically straightening" before. And btw its called a perm for most people, but I guess for white folk ya'll think it makes ur hair curly or whatever. Okay it will be a lil uncomfortable, your hair will not fall out unless you don't rinse it out all the way, it will only become dry and brittle if your don't moisturize it, and I get these about 4-6 times a year. It's not as bad as you're making it seem. I tell you, society today is clueless.

Yeah my mom got her hair chemically straightened and we went to england and she tried coming it and it kinda broke off alittle and now her hair is short, because she had to cut it because it was uneven and brittle and it's been 4 months and her hair is still really short.

Basically just buy a straightening iron or get some anti frizz spray! Hope it works!

A lot of asians get their hair straightened and for most of my friends it actually made their hair appear more smooth and soft but it depends on the texture of your hair. If you want straight hair then you should do it, its not as bad as it sounds. I got my hair straightened and it lasted for about a year but then your hair will grow out wavy so it'll look uneven. I still recommend it though.
