Does straightening,damage our hair?

Straightening does spoil your hair. You're essentially burning your hair. They become more dry as well. Over-straightening can look unnatural as well.

It's frustrating too. My friends all straighten their hairs because it's crazy curly and every time it rains or even when dark clouds appear, they shriek like mad because they think it's going to ruin their lovely hair.

This might seem a bit weird, but I heard somewhere that you can get a cup, put 1/4 of vinegar, then 3/4 of water (to get rid of the vinegar smell), and massage through your hair after shampooing your hair. Apparently it works wonders. Haven't tried this myself though but you should consult a beautician or your hairdresser first, about this and all your other hair problems.

it depends on how u str8'n it! i use a flat iron on my hair all the time and most of it is damaged! you must use something that protects ur hair against the heat! there is a spray but i dont know its name

Have you tried using a straightening iron? Although these can be hard on your hair, they will not damage your hair as much as chemical treatments. i have very coarse wavy hair (similar to what you're describing) and using a straightening iron with some styling wax makes my hair very smooth and shinny. I would try this before you go for the chemical straightening.

If you do go the straightening iron route, use a heat protector to minimize damage. I use Matrix smooth and sleek heat protector. (it comes in a bright orange bottle.)

Sadly, straightening does ruin your hair. But, it also depends on the brand of straightener that you use, so it is helpful to buy one from the salons and not just settle for the cheap ones.

You could maybe get away with straightening every now and then, for special occassions, but always use heat protectant products when you straighten. There are lots of sprays, conditioners, oils, creams that help protect your hair from heat which reduce the damage.

Does straightening,damage our hair?

Yeah, it does. Straightening your hair once in a while is okay but if you do it everyday, it'll dry out your hair and give you split ends. But if you do decide to straighten your hair on a daily basis, try taking a shower, shampoo, and then put conditioner on for about 5-10 minutes and it will help reduce your split ends and dryness.

The Sunsilk hair care line makes products that protects your hair from heat styling. So if you're going to flat iron your hair, then go for it. But a word of caution: If your hair is wavy and you straighten it from its natural texture, then yes, you're damaging it. But just remember to heat-protect your hair when you thermally straighten it and don't do it too often. Let you hair go wavy sometimes!

Your hair sounds gorgeous! I do know one hair product that will make your hair silkier- it's John Frieda Frizz-Ease Hair Serum. After you wash and condition your hair, towel dry your hair lightly and put a dime sized bit of the serum into your palms and rub them together and run it through your hair, especially on the ends. You'll find it makes a definite difference. As for straigtening, yes, it is very damaging. It's the equivilent of burning your hair. Most hair irons are metal, and that makes it even more damaging. If you want to try a straightening iron, make sure you buy one from a reputable beauty supply store, and make sure the metal part is ceramic based- much more gentler on the hair. I don't know what *casting* your hair is, so I can't comment on that, unfortunately. I do know is that I swear by all of the John Frieda hair straightening products. They will make your hair naturally lustrous and very shiny. Good luck!

hair rebonding is a way of getting hair straightened.it does burn a lot of hair.my best friend had hair rebonding because she didnt like her wavy brown hair.after that she lost a lot of hair but the new hair were wavy.after that she litrelly used a clothing iron on her hair to make them straight.that went on for some time and then her hair began to fall out.she had to get a hair cut and stop using any heat styling machine.i'd suggest u consult a beautician first and seek her guidence.

Does straightening,damage our hair?

Yes. Straightening your hair does damage your hair. I straightened my hait more than 5 times every week and now my hair is lifeless, dead, and not shiny. I can never put my hair into a cute hairstyle and always have to put it into an ugly bun. Please don't do the same mistake I made!
