Hair goes curly after straightening?

My hair is naturally curly.

I let it dry naturally and then I straighten.

Or I will just straighten my hair in the morning for school.

But after I straighten my hair, after like a half hour or hour my hair gets curly again.

Not my natural curl, but curly.

Why is this?

I use L;OREAL Studio Heat Seeker.

Its used for/as:

Straightening Cream

Enhances Straightening

Without Heat Styling damage.

I just got a new straightener, but it couldnt be that.

So what should I do?

Hair goes curly after straightening?

- Go curly! Read the book and visit the sites below about curly hair. I did and my once horrible curly hair is now virtually frizz-free ringlets. Now I get compliments on my hair all the time! Straighten your hair- be happy for a day, learn to manage your curly hair- be happy for life!

- To style your hair using the curly-girl method you will need gel, a leave in cream, and conditioner at the minimum. Some less useful, but still nice stuff would be a blowdryer, a diffuser (reduces frizz in curly/wavy hair when used with dryer), and a microfiber hair turban (to dry wet hair while sleeping or in the morning).

-The main philosophy of the curly-girl method is to not use shampoo. This may sound unhygenic but it has actually made my hair less oily and dandruffy. Most shampoos contain some of the same chemicals found in laundry detergent (sodium laureth sulfate, sodum lauryl sulfate, ammonium laureth sulfate, ammonium lauryl sulfate, etc.). They dry out curly hair. Also you shouldn't brush your curly hair dry because it damages the hair and makes it poof.

- Massaging of the scalp with conditioner to remove dirt is all that is needed. It will clean everything but super clingy silicones (cyclopentasiloxane and dimethicone are examples). Then rinse and spread conditioner on the outside layer of hair and the hair at the nape of your neck. Gently comb tangles out with your fingers or a wide toothed comb and rinse with cold/cool water.

- Do not brush/comb your hair after this point because it wil disturb the curl pattern (make sure you already have a part). It is also important to use gel on sopping wet hair and scrunch the hair with your fingers. Make sure gel is evenly distributed everywhere in your hair. If you use too much you can always scrunch out the crunchy texture later.

- Use paper towels or an old t-shirt to gently scrunch some of the water out (generic towels can make hair frizz). You can either let your hair air dry or wait ten minutes and then use a blowdryer with a diffuser. Dry until your hair is almost dry, and then let air dry the last bit. Do not touch the hair while it is air drying or it will frizz!

- Use a moisturizing conditioner, such as Desert Essence Organics Italian Red Grape Conditioner (found at health food/organic stores) or Activate Hydrating Conditioner (drugstore). The combo of products that I use daily is L'Oreal Out of Bed Weightless Texturizer (comes in a black-colored tub) and then Herbal Essences Totally Twisted Gel or Body Envy Gel, but there are more conditioners, gels, etc. on the websites. The products I recommended are my personal favorites and contain no silicones or drying alcohols.

- Your hair may seem worse at first, but it is just adjusting. This may take a couple weeks to begin working. Before you decide to quit shampoo, do a final cleanse with shampoo and stop the use of any products with silicones in them. Hope this helps!

Get it professionally straightened

Hair goes curly after straightening?

It's from letting your hair dry naturally!

Don't let your hair dry naturally !!!!

Towel dry it first than Blow dry it staright with a round brush.. than straighten your hair.

you can still use the same products.

hope this helped :)

Hair goes curly after straightening?

I have the same problem and I've fixed it a little.

Instead of naturally letting your hair dry, blowdry it out straight, or as straight at you can get it. From there, straighten it. Do this all in the morning though, mine won't stay if I do some at night, and some in the morning. Or else if I do it all at night and try to re-do in the morning, won't work.

I hope this helps, it's worked for me.

=] goodluck!

Hair goes curly after straightening?

it might be because ur in a lot of humidity

i used to have the same problem

one a day that i knew it would be very HOTTT (80 degress or more) i wouldnt straighten it because it would end up curly any way

also i straight it in layers and i take my time and do a better job. the extra time will be worth it in the long run. so try straightening better...it worked for me

hope it helps =]

ps i let my hair air dry too, so i think if ur hair is lik mine, straightening it better will do the trick

DONT USE LOREAL!!!!! Use Pantene, because, like you, I have somewhat curly hair. I straighten it, and it's beautiful and smooth.

I don't know I get the same problem, i will straighten my hair and it will go all wavey not long after school, I've just sort of learned to live with wavey hair, but i did find that blow dryeing it (not sitting for hours, but just breifly using a hair dryer while brushing my hair like they do in the salons) will often lengthen the straight life of my hair lol.

Hey sweetie,

My hair is naturally curly too, I feel your pain! lol. I think what's going on is your straightening your hair when its dry.. so you're taking away all the moisture from it! Because of this, your hair seeks moisture in the atmosphere and thus frizzes out and starts to curl. Whenever I straighten my hair and its humid, it does this but otherwise no. This is what I do: get out of the shower, let my hair dry naturally (for like 20 min) so its still wet, then I blow dry it straight as well as I can, AND THEN!! lol.. I pass my flat iron. The only thing I use in my hair is a protector from heat which I got from my salon. Quite a hassle huh! Well, beauty has its price my dear. Best of luck!

If the product has some hold in it, hair will go wavey (or kinky) or take the shape it is kept it or even clump. Use a good shampoo and a rich conditioner.

Instead of using heat seeker try a serum By John Frieda or the Iron Smoother by Matrix

as a girl with a natural "white fro" i have the same problem as you. the best straightener to get is the chi iron. it has been my lifesaver for over five years. and whenever it breaks, you can just take it back (with the box) to trade secret and swap it for a new one (for free!). if you don't think it's your straightener, it could be your product. i use biosilk serum. you can get it at walmart, target, or hair salons. it's not expensive, and it still works amazingly. you can use it on wet or dry hair, and also after you've straightened your hair for any flyaways.

I have the the same problem. Well, actually my hair is naturally wavy, and my hair doesn't get that wavy after a while but, I can suggest that you get is the Japanese Straightening Perm (at a salon), it works, trust me. I got it. Or you can use a straightening shampoo and conditioner...it won't make it extremely straight, but it will lessen the curls. Hope this helps.

  1. Nice post..Another easy way to make the hair right is to use the
Hair Straightener Cream for Girls & Women. This helps because the cream is easy to get and easier to use. Apply it to the part you want to straighten and leave it.
