Permanently Straightening my hair?!?!?

I have thick curly/wavy hair and was thinking of permanently straightening my hair. Now i know all the info- it lasts for around 5 months, and new hair will grow in eventually. I really wanted to get my hair layered and/or get side bangs but i cant do it because my hair is not the right type! I could but it would just be a big pain and difficult to manage, because i would have to straighten it all the time.

So my problem is should I do it? Is there another way to get my hair without straightening it? I've heard a lot of different things. It's good, it's bad, it's okay and i don't know which one to go with or believe?

My sister-in-law is a hair stylist. the best thing to do is talk to stylists that have taken extensive classes and have done the process, on many types of hair, that way they will know exactly how to treat your hair, and minimize any problems.

Ask your friends, and when you do go to the salon, ask what courses the stylist has taken. You can interview the hairdresser before you even make your appointment. Make sure they've dealt with your hair type before.

And when you go through with the straightening do exactly what the hairdresser tells you, before and after. As my sister-in-law says" your hair is your crowning glory" so take care of it.

I would first get a temporary one. If you like it, then get it permanently done.

i did at and it looks good.i would recomend it for sure.and i have curly hair.but u do have to straighten it.but not everyday

just get it permenate straightened i have the same problem only I'm 14 and my mom refuses to get permanently straightened b/c she "likes it the way it is" sucks

I tried it once and it turned out terrible! What the woman did was to put a perm in my hair and pull the hair straight for as long as the perm was supposed to be in....she pulled it straight by constantly brushing it down straight. Problem is the back of my head curves(like most everybody elses) and over that curve or "hump" was the way it was brushed - so my "straightened" hair had a permanent lump in it that looked like a ponytail hump

dont get it!!! it completely FRYS ur hair!!! if u ahve a good stylest she should be able to tell u a good cut. dont get it straightened.

sometimes they dont even work, so why kill ur hair it its still gonna be curly?

i just got my hair permanantly straightened and layered with side bangs and it looks AMAZING!!!!! i've been getting compliments left and right and i really do luv it now that its straight!!
