Straightening frizzy hair?

I have very wild, bushy hair uptil my shoulders. I've been offered a free straightening at one of the most expensive parlours in the country ;) , so I'm wondering whether it's worth it? How long will it last? And how much can it be damaged? I don't plan to regularly straighten my hair or anything of that sort, will it still be damaging? (My hair is also very thick; it can withstand some hair fall)

Straightening frizzy hair?

Fo' frizzle.

Straightening frizzy hair?

what type of straightening is it?

Straightening frizzy hair?

i would say go for it if its free, it wont hurt your hair and shouldnt last too long so if it goes wrong and turns out scray it wont be permenant. But i have found straightening frizzes my hair out more

Straightening frizzy hair?

Its safe and if you want straight hair..its deff worth it.

Straightening frizzy hair?

I say go for it.

I mean what do you have to loose?

Straightening frizzy hair?

Mine is the same way and now i straighten mine religously! Every day! Your hair will look sexy gorgeous! And very silky! It will only take about 5-10 minutes. My hair is to the bottom of my back and it takes 30min- 1hour!!! And there is stuff you can buy to put into your hair to keep it from damaging too.

Straightening frizzy hair?

sure--i'd do it. do you know if it's that special japanese technique? i can't think of the name of it but it's really pricey but it's supposed to work very well and last a really long time. i had a straightener put on my hair once and there was this almost sharp kink right at the roots that grew out--it was weird but i don't think any hair broke off...i'd get it done, but religiously deep condition my hair after that.

Straightening frizzy hair?

Well if its chemically straightening, you wont have to worry about straightening it for a while, but most times it does horribly damage your hair. I can not speak from personal experience, but I have known people who have gotten their hair chemically straightened. If done right, it can have minimal damaging effects on your hair and look fantastic! If your are speaking of just a regular flat iron treatment, that really does not damage hair unless used excessively in which case one should use a straightening cream. Straightening cream can be found at your local drug store for under $5 in the hair care section. I recommend Lorelle (sp?) it works very well!

Straightening frizzy hair?

go for it, and when your straighten it just buy some heat protection spray put it in before you straighten it and your hair will be fine

Straightening frizzy hair?

I too have thick frizzy (curly) hair, are you talking about permanent Japanese hair straightening or just temp with a flat iron? I only know that I occasionally straighten my hair with a flat iron and I love it. It has not damaged my hair and it will not last after you wash your hair. Would do it more often but it is so time consuming. Go for it and enjoy.!!

Straightening frizzy hair?

Buy the chi flat iron, it works miracles, you can flat iron your hair everyday as long as you use a heat protecting spray. I would also consider using a moisturing shampoo, and moisturizing conditioner, The oil in the products will weigh your hair down and force it to be straighter,

Straightening frizzy hair?

As far as I know Chemical Straightening has come a long way and is probably just a little more damaging than having your hair colored.

I had my hair straightened many years ago and it lasted about six months and it was SO worth it. Of course there were places that needed to be touched up with the flatiron here and there.

When you get it done make sure you ask about after care, you'll probably want to do some major conditioning after.

At home try this:

Your favorite conditioner

Olive Oil

1-2 drops Scented Oil

Make enough to saturate your hair (not as much as you think)

Whisk together in a small bowl and set over a pot of boiling water to warm the mixture through. Apply to dry hair and wrap your hair around your head with plastic wrap. Next, take a hair dryer and use it (at least 12 in from the plastic) to warm your hair through. Wrap in a towel and repeat the warming process after your hair has cooled. Rinse, sleep on it, wash it in the morning. You'll love it!

Can straightening my hair every day make my hair not grow?

i alread asked about how i could make my hair grow faster, but i was just wondering [cuz i straighten my hair every day] if straightening my hair could make my hair not grow, so tellll me!!!

Can straightening my hair every day make my hair not grow?

It won't make your hair not grow, but it could keep your hair from getting longer! Straightening irons do a lot of damage, and are hardest on the oldest, weakest parts of your hair - the ends. They can cause the ends to break off at the same rate or even faster than new hair is growing, making it appear that your hair is not growing at all.

Try to cut back to no more than once a week (if that's possible), and be sure to use good thermal products to protect your hair when you use any kind of heat styling appliance.

Can straightening my hair every day make my hair not grow?

No it cannot make your hair stop growing but it can damage your hair so try putting leave in conditioner in it

Can straightening my hair every day make my hair not grow?

No, it can't make your hair not grow, but definitely it can damage your hair if you keep on doing it every day!

Can straightening my hair every day make my hair not grow?

lol if your hair is a lenght straight or curlie its the same length. Straghtening it just helps ruin it but if you put on good stuff first, it will help protect your hair.

Can straightening my hair every day make my hair not grow?

No, its not that it will stunt the hair growth, but can cause hair damage/breakage due to the constant heat drying out the hair. So as far as it growing faster, that could be stumbling block for that goal. So make sure to keep your hair well moisturized.

Can straightening my hair every day make my hair not grow?

your hair would still grow..dunworry :P

Can straightening my hair every day make my hair not grow?

straightening your hair every day does not stop it from growing, but it will seem as if does because no matter how much your grows from the roots the damage from straightening your hair will be breaking it from the ends. and straightening your hair every day wont just keep it at one level but it will be getting evens shorter from all that damage. try leaving your hair natural and only straightening it when you have a special occassion, i mean theres no need to do it for school.

Can straightening my hair every day make my hair not grow?

no, but it will break really quickly if you dont protect it properly. growth depends on your diet.

Can straightening my hair every day make my hair not grow?

Yes, Heat is not natural to put on your hair, so if you want it to always continue to grow, I would lay off the heat.... all it does is damage.

Permanently straightening curly hair?

I want to get my hair permanently straightened using japanese straightening in the city(NYC) but i die my hair all the time and it is frizzy enouph already..what do I do?

Permanently straightening curly hair?

You need to get a consultation from a professional stylist, that is really the only thing you can do. No one can give you REAL advise about this without seeing and feeling your hair in person.

Can i color my hair after japanese straightening?

i had my hair japanese straightened two weeks ago. i was wondering if i need to wait one or two months before coloring it. also, if this would make a difference, the color is just a little bit darker than my natural hair color and im only coloring the tips of my hair. do i need to wait/how long?

Can i color my hair after japanese straightening?

someone on here may be able to help you, but you can always call whoever did your hair and ask. i am sure they'd be more than happy to answer your questions.

Can i color my hair after japanese straightening?

I personally wouldn't advise it. Your hair is in a delicate state right now due to the straightening process. If you color your hair, and add more chemicals and treatments, your hair might break off. Wait at least a month or so to color it. In the meantime, you may want to use a really good deep conditioner or a leave-in conditioner to keep the moisture in your hair. Nexxus makes a good one called Humectress; Neutrogena Triple Moisture and Garnier Fructis also have good leave-ins.

Using hair lotion to protect from straightening iron heat.?

Will using a hair lotion (Pink Lotion) before staightening my hair with a straightening iron be ok for protecting it? I.E, prevent it from burning? This lotion isn't specifically designed for use with a straightening iron...its kinda of oily...but it says that its "a light protective hair lotion and conditioner that is designed to protect, condition, and and moisturize hair".

I don't know if I can find a straigtening serum since I live in Grenada and they have nothing here.

Do you think sticking with the pink lotion before straightening my hair will keep it from becoming damaged? I straigthen my hair once a week. Thanks

Using hair lotion to protect from straightening iron heat.?

well, if its not designed for heat protection then it probably isnt protecting it

try l'oreal hot straight, its designed for heat protection when using your flat iron plus it smells really good :]

Using hair lotion to protect from straightening iron heat.?

It might help, but straigtening hair damages it no matter what. Use a really good conditioner that repairs damage - ask a hair stylist to recommend one.

Straightening Afro Hair?

Im an African American man and i really hate my kinky/nappy hair,I have an afro hair, do yall guys know if i can use a straightening comb, to straighten it, so i can have sleek straight Hair, will it work for my hair? If so where can i find it at?

Straightening Afro Hair?

Not to be funny, but straight hair on a black man looks CRAZY!! Look at that little dude from Wildn' Out. Prime example. Look at Prince. He's aiight, but still kinda fruity looking. If that's the look you are going for, then OK, whatever floats your boat. If you hate your hair so much, why don't you just get a hair cut, just like the majority of other black men??

Now to answer your question: Yes, you can use a straightening comb. This will only last as long as your next shower. Once naturally curly hair is straightened by non-chemical methods, ie. hotcombs, blow dryers, etc, moisture will revert your hair back to it's natural texture. If you get a chemical straightener, opt for getting it professionally done. For an initial processing, depending on the location of where you live, how long your hair is, and how your want it styled after the chemical is applied, it can run you anywhere between $65-$100. And on top of that, you will need to get your "nappy" hair re-touched at the root every 6-8 weeks, which also is an additional charge.

Straightening Afro Hair?

I would keep the afro because it's probly not worth the extra effort to straighten it every morning. You might want to try one of those hair straighteners and see how it works on your hair, and how long it lasts. If its too much effort, i'd just say keep the afro because they look killer. And i think you can find a hair straightener in the cosmetics isle at most big grocery stores, but i'm not positive.

Straightening Afro Hair?

You should go to a salon and get a consultation. If possible go to a salon that deals with natural hair. You might want to get a relaxer. The first time you straighten your hair should not be done by yourself. You still want healthy hair.

Straightening Afro Hair?

yes you can, but if you are going to continually straighten it you might as well just get a relaxer. Local beauty supply store sells both.

Is straightening bad for your hair or makes your hair thin?

I've been straightening my hair for a while and I noticed that my hair has been very thin so I stopped!!

But why some people wear their hair straight every day and their hair is thick and always the same

P.S I have really really thick and curly ,hair and i only straightened my hair like every week.

Is straightening bad for your hair or makes your hair thin?

You should listen to what your hair is telling you...if it is thin...think about it...no two people have the same hair conditions and what is good for one may not be good for you...take care...

Is straightening bad for your hair or makes your hair thin?

it makes your hair straight. but if it gets too thin STOP IMMEDIATELY.

Is straightening bad for your hair or makes your hair thin?

ive been straightening my hair for around 4 years straight everday.

my hairs perfectly fine never had issues. dont listen to people that say its bad.

Is straightening bad for your hair or makes your hair thin?

straighting your hair everyday damages it and it also fry's it

Is straightening bad for your hair or makes your hair thin?

If your hair is naturally curly, only sraiten it a little. That way it won't be thin. Take my advice.

Is straightening bad for your hair or makes your hair thin?

no, its not GREAT for your hair, but if you use a straightening cream and some leave in conditioner before you blow dry your hiar, then it will defenitly help. i have really long wavy hair and i straighten it all the time and its still really thick. make sure you are getting the dead ends cut off too because when they are gone it makes your hair shiny and healthy. hope this helps!!

Is straightening bad for your hair or makes your hair thin?

It doesn't really make your hair thiner... it just feels like that. It does damage it but you can't really see it... it just doesn't feel as healthy.

Is straightening bad for your hair or makes your hair thin?

All you have to do is wash ur hair with Conditioner like the kind that i use. It's Suave and something else. Just wash ur hair everyday with conditioner

Is straightening bad for your hair or makes your hair thin?

if u use a cream or spray that protects ur hair against heat, then ur good. and if u buy a really good straightener, that helps 2.

Is straightening bad for your hair or makes your hair thin?

enjoy your natural curly hair.

straightening it too much..will cause it to break

your hair should be treated like silk.

you say your hair is thick..but the diameter of each strand may be finer..so it is more susceptible to damage.

Is straightening bad for your hair or makes your hair thin?

the thing is, those people who have thick hair like that, have a ceramic hair straightener. they might of paid like $100 for it. and they also could have one of those hair products that you put on after or before you straighten your hair.

Is straightening bad for your hair or makes your hair thin?

Use something to protect your hair from the heat before you straighten it. I reccomend CHI Iron Guard.

Is straightening bad for your hair or makes your hair thin?

products like "Hot-sauce" are designed to help regenerate your hair, its a reason why its really popular.

also, some people just have naturaly really-straight hair
