Straightening african american hair?

I purchased a pink chi flat iron today to cut down on my hair salon visits. It came with a tiny bottle of what i think is a chi hair serum. I only plan on using it maybe once or twice a month so i won't do damage to my hair. What is a good regime to do when i want to shampoo and straighten my hair should i use an oil or a lotion? I really don't want to loose any moisture.

It really depends on how coarse your hair is. If you can stand it, I recommend washing your hair 1-2x/week, putting an oil cream conditioner on it (pantene makes a good one, it comes in a brown bottle and says "relaxed and natural"), blow dry it as straight as possible, or let it completely air-dry, and once dry, put on a little bit of the CHI silk infusion you got, and flatiron it in in small sections.

When I straighten my hair I use "Luster Pink Oil Moisterizer", idk if you know of it but its for black people, but i guess white people can use it too lol. I comb the section, put the pink hair stuff on it, and then I use the hot comb once, and then the flat iron over that. Comes out great and my hair is moisturized. Also to keep it good, I use the pink spray.
