I really want to stop straightening my hair.?

ok ive been straightening for 2 years but its time to stop. my hair is frizzy so flat ironing it helped. however im asian and it used to be so silky and shiny and straight but getting highlights has ruined that. i am halfway into growing my hair and its coming out silky. anybody out there have any ideas as to how i can leave my straightener for good? maybe like a really good product or leave in condioner. how did u kick the habit?

You can go into a salon and have them relax it for you, or a trick that the hawaiians use is palm oil or somekind of oil, becuse as we all know it's humid but have you ever seen a hula girl with frizzy hair? I think not....

maybe you should just get a hair straightening perm that'll probably last a couple months. and also use leave in conditioner or hair repair conditioner. if you do, then you won't have to straighten your hair everyday and you can condition your hair about 3 times a week to keep it soft and healthy :)

i have pin straight hair and dont do ANYTHING with it.. especially including straigteners.. i like using pantene conditioner and shampoo and i brush my hair a lot.. straighteneing is bad for hair and will make it fall out.. im glad you are stopping.. use a good shampoo and conditioner and it should stay beautiful.. but ... it depends on hair type if u have naturally curly hair it will not stay straight.. there are also serums to make your hair straight or... if u want u can have it professionally straightened in one straightening and not have to do it ever again and have perfect hair.. still take care of it though

I had the same problem! I have been straightening my hair for a year, and it seems like its just making it worse! I tried a few brands of shampoo and conditoner, and its seems to be working ok. I also started using mosse and it gives your hair that extra shiny bounce! hope I helped.. a little?

but now im started to straightening it more.

when i was going out i used to have my hair up,

like a high pony, or side pony, plait, etc, and all that

or just have my hair messy-ish

i use a mousse now which is meant to defend my hair from heat, you can usually find them types of products in supermarkets etc

keeping it in a ponytail or messy bun helps alot because u dont have to straighten ur hair to do that

and only wash ur hair everyother day, since washing it alot will make it dry and even more frizzy

I kicked the habit with the help of a book recommended by my stylist. It's called "Curly Girl" and you can buy it on Amazon. I don't follow all the recommendations but I follow a lot of them (including washing my hair with conditioner instead of shampoo - yes really!). I love my curly hair for the first time in my life and it doesn't get frizzy anymore and I don't straighten anymore.

While I personally do not have this problem most of my girlfriends do. The best thing that has worked has been to use whatever shampoo you want . But as a conditioner use the SunSilk straightening conditioner. (This conditioner smells great by the way and leaves you hair smelling great all day.) Then once you are ready to dry your hair, use a round brush and pull your hair out straight to n dry. With this method you can also curl the ends under. Also using a mouse before drying can help. Some of my friends no longer need to use the straightening iron with this solution. Hope this helps!
