i have really thick frizzy hair, and i want to try something that will keep my hair 'tame' and sleek...ive tried straightening irons, but after a few hours my hair goes back to normal..however i dont want my hair looking too thin and limp...anyone have any suggestions?
Whats the difference between texturising, relaxing and straightening your hair? (if any)?
relaxing and straightening mean the same thing. texturizing alters the curl from curly to wavey. chemically straightening your hair can be very damaging and still will need some styling to make it look good. I would suggest japanese thermal straightening if you can afford it. Can range from 500-800 but gives excellent results, like you were born with straight hair. If not then I would just keep using the iron, it's just not worth the damage to get it relaxed!

i think relaxing and texturizing is when they thin out your hair

well there two meanings of texturizing.. one is a cutting term that doesnt apply to this situation... the other is making the s-pattern of the hair larger... slightly relaxing the curl. a relaxer actully completly straightens the hair can be drying to the hair and cause breakage. u may not want to go that route. u will have to relax ur hair for the rest of ur life... u cannot strip it out

Warning!
Frizzy hair that looks like a poodle falls out VERY EASILY. Stick with a flat iron or blow dryer. Then apply a small amount of petroleum based pomade that also contains paraffin wax. It will keep your hair sleek.
But remember, thick frizzy hair is better than being totally BALD! ANd chemical baldness never grows back! Or maybe your hair will look like astro turf if it falls out!
Relaxers are for naturally oily thick hair (that has to be washed more than twice weekly) or very coarse, tightly wound hair (the kind that water clings to when wet and does not soak). Relaxers strip the outside of each strand of hair to make it straight.
Texturizers make hair kinky. This is for people with bone straight hair who need some body and bounce. It will damage frizzy hair.
Perms for straight or mid texture hair to add curls. If done properly they look beautiful but make sure to go to a place that is reputable, and let them spot test a section of your hair first. To see how it will take. NEVER let anyone chemically treat your hair without doing a spot test first! If they try to do it, get up and leave, because they are reckless and taking chances with your hair.
Might I suggest the Japanese hair straightening system. It is very expensive and costs $400 . But it works very well on frizzy, easy to damage hair. And it is not harsh. It lasts for 6 months, but requires touch ups for new growth.

I will suggest getting a texturizer that is what you put on your hair to loosen the curls if they are really tight it will not take the curl out of your hair and it can be easily straightened if you want to wear it straight from time to time. a relaxer will take all the curl out of your hair you will not be able to wear your hair curly or wavy I do not recommend this because you will probably get tired of wearing your hair straight all the time and when you heat straighten your hair this will not last long because of outside humidity, sweat and moisture will cause it to frizz and puff up. you will have to put heat on your hair everyday which is not good for the hair. There is something called Just For Me Texture Softener it is new and it works really good all it does is loosen up your natural curl a little so it is more managable and less frizzy. It is about 7 US dollars and you only use it every 10 to 12 weeks.

A relaxer breaks down the natural curl or S pattern of the hair. Straightening the hair can be done by relaxing it, pressing it, or flat ironing it. The benefit of pressing or flat ironing it is that with proper care, you can always wear your hair straight, or return to your natural state, the downfall is that too much heat can permanently loosen your natural curl pattern, leading to permanently straight hair. A texturizer is usually down on natural hair. It loosens up the thickness of the curl pattern, giving the hair a more wavy or curl look. It's just like a perm, except you don't let it sit on as long. The downfall to this is that if you leave it on too long, you will permanently straighten the hair, also, with numerous applications, if not done correctly, you will straighten the hair by putting the product on top of the last texurized hair.
